Job summary

Pyrotek in the United States is seeking a Large Shapes Specialist to operate hand-controlled mechanisms to pour and regulate refractory into molds. Shift: Monday - Friday, 6:00am-2:30pm, with focus on safe prep, mixing, casting, firing and finishing of refractory shapes.

The role requires reading drawings and work instructions, basic math, strong attention to quality, and safe operation of cranes and forklifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED/TASC or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year experience in mixing, casting, firing and finishing refractory shapes or concrete.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders and drawings.
• Ability to read and understand safety rules and manuals.
• Strong math and measuring skills.
• Ability to operate cranes, forklifts, and other equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Determine required materials, tools, and equipment for refractory shapes.
• Measure molds for dimensional accuracy per drawings.
• Assess and ensure raw material quality to meet standards.
• Mix ingredients per recipe to ensure consistency.
• Cast refractory using equipment including vibrators and mounts.
• Perform QC and finishing to meet quality criteria.
• Inspect shapes for strength, texture, and tolerances.
• Safely operate cranes and pallet jacks.
