YMCA of Memphis and the Mid-South seeks a part-time Reform­er Pilates instructor to lead safe, engaging reformer classes and promote the program to members.

You will maintain current certifications, adapt to varied health levels, and build relationships within the YMCA community. The role emphasizes welcoming participants of all abilities and contributing to a positive, supportive class environment.

Qualifications

• CPR, First Aid, AED certification required and current.
• Pilates Mat and Reformer certifications required to teach reformer classes.
• Suspension trainer Pilates and related specializations may be required depending on formats taught.
• At least one year of experience teaching group exercise classes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, effective reformer Pilates classes as directed to support YMCA mission and goals.
• Maintain current certifications and knowledge of best practices in Pilates.
• Build authentic relationships with members and help them connect with the YMCA.
• Observe and adjust teaching to meet participants’ health, ability and cultural needs.
• Provide constructive feedback to promote skill development and proper alignment.
• Celebrate participant progress to foster a positive class environment.
• Track attendance accurately for classes.
• Attend YMCA meetings and training related to Reformer Pilates/group exercise.
• Lead introductory reformer classes to showcase the program and promote packages.
• Promote classes by engaging members and inviting friends and family.
• Maintain a regular weekly class schedule and arrange substitutes as needed.
• Follow YMCA policies; respond to emergencies; perform other duties.
