Job summary

Advantage Technical seeks an experienced Project Manager IV to lead multidisciplinary capital projects from planning through closeout. A strong mechanical or civil/structural engineering background and a proven oil & gas/petrochemical track record are required.

The ideal candidate will have a PE license and PMP certification, with extensive experience directing contractors, managing cost/schedule, and delivering projects safely on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of project management experience in the oil & gas or petrochemical industry.
• 5+ years as a Project Manager with sole accountability for project execution.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Leading project teams and overseeing execution from planning through closeout.
• Developing and implementing Project Execution Plans.
• Leading FEL processes, gate reviews, and management approvals.
• Developing contracting strategies and managing contractor selection, bidding, and award processes.
• Managing project cost, schedule, procurement, and payables.
• Managing engineering and construction contractors.
• Controlling costs and minimizing claims and change orders.
• Establishing project safety expectations and driving safety performance.
• Managing project schedules and using them to drive performance.
• Overseeing cost estimates and monthly cash-flow forecasts.
• Managing vendors, fabricators, and specialty contractors.
• Ensuring quality and QA/QC requirements are met.
• Developing and managing project KPIs and performance metrics.
• Communicating project status to management and key stakeholders.
• Ensuring timely and efficient project closeout.

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager IV to lead multi-disciplinary engineering capital projects from planning through successful closeout. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned Project Manager with a strong mechanical or civil/structural engineering background and proven experience managing capital projects within the oil & gas, refining, or petrochemical industries.

LONG-TERM OPPORTUNITY

This contract is initially structured for two years, with strong potential for a long-term, multi-year assignment. The ideal candidate will hold an active Professional Engineer (PE) license and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, along with a strong track record of leading complex projects, managing contractors, and delivering projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

REQUIREMENTS

RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Scope May Include: Pump Replacements, Equipment Repairs & Upgrades, Piping Projects, Multi-Disciplinary Engineering & Construction Projects, Capital Improvement Projects.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 10+ years of project management experience in refining and/or petrochemical operations
• Experience managing engineering and construction contractors and multiple project teams
• Strong knowledge of industry-recommended practices, design methods, and QA/QC requirements
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, industry standards, and DOT requirements
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
