Job summary

Marathon Petroleum’s El Paso Refinery is seeking a Process Controls Specialist to optimize unit performance and reliability through advanced control strategies.

You will design, implement, and maintain DCS/SIS/PLC/SCADA systems, troubleshoot hardware and software, and collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance. This role requires hands-on experience with Honeywell Experion PKS, TDC 3000, and Rockwell PLCs, plus strong documentation and project management skills.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or higher in a related technical field with relevant experience.
• Two years or more of experience with industrial control systems.
• A valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Designs, implements, and maintains process control strategies to optimize unit performance and reliability.
• Troubleshoots and resolves control system issues across hardware, software, and networks.
• Collaborates with operations, engineering and maintenance to resolve operational challenges.
• Maintains Honeywell Experion PKS and TDC 3000 DCS platforms including configuration and upgrades.
• Maintains Triconex SIS and Rockwell PLCs with logic modifications and testing.
• Develops control narratives, diagrams, and system documentation.
• Manages controls-related projects from scope through commissioning.
• Develops operator graphics and HMIs for DCS, SIS, PLC, and SCADA systems.
• Maintains and troubleshoots industrial networks.
• Provides on-call and outage/turnaround support for control systems.
