Responsibilities
The following describes the major elements and requirements of the position. The Referral Specialist acts as a liaison between insurance providers, healthcare providers, and the clinic to ensure referrals are processed correctly for medical specialty visits. Responsibilities include scheduling referrals at the request of providers and/or staff, communicating with clinics, patients, and referred providers, reviewing clinical data for medical necessity reports to insurance companies, and performing administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, retrieving patient records, and completing insurance prior authorizations. The specialist should have knowledge of referral processes, tests, surgeries, and insurance plans. Excellent telephone etiquette and the ability to communicate politely and effectively are essential. The role also involves supporting patients through prior authorizations, payment options, and conveying a positive image of the organization.
Qualifications

The estimated total compensation range for this role is $18.15 to $24.42 per hour, with the exact starting salary based on experience, education, credentials, and other factors.
