Responsibilities

The Referral Specialist acts as a liaison between insurance, healthcare providers, and the clinic to ensure referrals are processed correctly for medical specialty visits. Responsibilities include scheduling referrals at the request of providers or staff, communicating directly with clinics, patients, and referred providers, reviewing clinical data to report medical necessity to insurance companies, and performing all work aligned with the practice's mission, vision, and values. The Referral Specialist makes referrals to specialists, manages prior authorizations, and fosters positive relationships between the office and specialists. Additional duties include filing/scanning patient reports, retrieving patient records for prior authorizations, and completing insurance prior authorizations. The candidate should have knowledge of referral processes, medical terminology, and insurance plans. Excellent telephone etiquette, patient support skills, and the ability to navigate prior authorizations are essential. The role requires maintaining a positive image of the organization and a friendly attitude towards internal and external customers.
Qualifications
Prime Healthcare Illinois Medical Group offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, 401K, medical/dental/vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and voluntary benefits. The estimated total compensation range is $18.15 to $24.42 per hour, with the final offer based on experience, education, credentials, and other factors.
