Job summary

You will obtain codes for pre-certifications, guide patients through the process, ensure timely arrivals, and help update scheduling policies to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• AAS in related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets all patients, in person or by phone, with a cheerful, helpful attitude.
• Coordinates testing with physician, patient, facility and payer; obtains third-party approval.
• Obtains procedure and diagnosis codes to authorize/pre-certify tests.
• Refers self-pay and out-of-network patients to resources for payment help.
• Completes pre-certification/authorization with insurance and documents the details.
• Documents authorization/pre-certification and contact information.
• Contacts patient to communicate scheduled procedures and instructions.
• Coordinates arrival times with hospital/facility and shares this info.
• Assists in reviewing and updating scheduling policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties to ensure scheduling efficiency.
• Maintains knowledge of department equipment (phones, computers, faxes, copiers, printers).
