Job summary

Cummins Behavioral Health Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced office professional to fill the role of Referral Engagement Coordinator in Avon, IN. The REC manages intake, review, and outreach to ensure timely access to behavioral health services and coordinates with referral sources and internal teams.

The role emphasizes accurate documentation, chart setup, and compliance with regulatory standards, while facilitating engagement and appropriate service initiation for referred individuals.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate or bachelor's degree preferred in behavioral health, social work, or related field.
• Experience in healthcare intake, care coordination, or behavioral health preferred.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems preferred.
• Prior experience with DCS, juvenile justice, or community-based services is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor designated referral inboxes regularly, triage incoming communications, track and respond to time-sensitive referral requirements.
• Determine referral acceptability and collaborate with clinical leaders when needed.
• Accurately document referral decisions and enter data in the electronic health record.
• Ensure consumer charts have updated demographic and payer information.
• Make timely outreach to referred individuals and document outreach attempts.
