Job summary

First Choice Community Healthcare INC in Albuquerque, NM, is seeking a Referral Specialist I to support provider-directed referrals and ensure smooth documentation and reporting of referral status. Under Health Center Manager supervision, you may schedule appointments, verify insurance, and assist with patient registration while maintaining accuracy, timeliness, and excellent customer service.

This role requires strong communication, basic office IT skills, and knowledge of medical terminology;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and at least one year of medical office or related healthcare experience.
• Bi-lingual Spanish-speaking skills highly preferred, experience in a multiple provider setting and experience with electronic health records and healthcare practice management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains ongoing tracking of and appropriate documentation regarding the status of provider-directed patient referrals.
• Helps ensure complete and accurate patient registration information including demographic data and current health insurance information.
• Communicates with patients, providers and other staff regarding the status of referrals.
• May contact insurance companies to confirm prior approvals and provide necessary patient information.
• May schedule patient referral appointments and provide necessary paperwork and instructions.
• Attends and contributes to meetings as needed.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
