Job summary

Universal Health Services is seeking a Referral Specialist for its clinics in the Rio Grande Valley. The role involves scheduling referrals for patients and providers, pre-authorizing tests, and coordinating with facilities and staff to ensure smooth patient care.

You will communicate with clinics and patients, review data for medical necessity, and support the mission and values of the practice. This position emphasizes accuracy, efficiency, and patient-centered service within UHS.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must maintain CPR certification.
• Minimum of two years of clinical experience required.
• Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems, and other office procedures and terminology.
• Knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customers and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
• EMR Experience

Responsibilities

• Scheduling referrals for patients and providers, including pre-authorizing and pre-certing tests/procedures.
• Scheduling of other tests with facilities at request of providers and staff.
• Direct communication with clinics, referred clinics, and patients.
• Reviewing clinical data to report medical necessity to insurance companies.
