Job summary

South Texas Health System Clinics is seeking a Referral Specialist to schedule referrals, pre-authorize tests, and coordinate tests with facilities at the request of providers. You will communicate with patients, clinics, and hospitals to ensure medical necessity is reported to insurers, upholding the practice’s mission and values.

Role requires a high school diploma or GED, CPR certification, and at least two years of clinical experience.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Must maintain CPR certification.
Minimum of two years of clinical experience required.
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems.
Knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
EMR Experience.

Responsibilities

Schedule referrals for patients and providers; pre-authorize and pre-certify tests and procedures.
Schedule other tests with facilities as requested by providers or staff.
Direct communication with clinics, referred patients, and providers.
Review clinical data to report medical necessity to insurance companies.
