Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is seeking a Referral Coordinator to support clinical teams, patients and families by managing referrals and authorizations for our medical group in the Outpatient Ambulatory setting. You will work within the EHR to process referrals from provider orders.

The department provides centralized insurance authorization support for patient visits and high‑tech imaging across all practices.

Qualifications

• 1 year of healthcare experience
• Strong communication skills with physicians and interdepartmental teams
• General knowledge of medical insurance and terminology
• Familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding and CPT coding
• Experience with patient registration and/or billing
• Ability to analyze problems and work in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Manage referrals and/or authorizations for the medical group in the EHR (Outpatient Ambulatory setting).
• Process internal and external referrals and authorizations from provider orders.
• Provide centralized insurance authorization support for patient visits and high-tech imaging services across all practices.
