Job summary

GBMC HealthCare is seeking an Access Referral Specialist to serve as the primary contact for all inbound referrals, calls, faxes, and emails. The role supports admission scheduling, insurance verification, and coordination with the clinical team across hospice, palliative, and geriatric services.

The specialist will document thoroughly in Epic, maintain relationships with referral sources, and assist with bed management as needed. On-site work and strong customer service are essential.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's preferred.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a healthcare call center or equivalent.
• Knowledge of insurance verification for Medicare/Medicaid and all commercial payors.

Responsibilities

• Answer inbound calls, faxes, and emails from referral partners and staff.
• Coordinate referral development and patient access across Gilchrist programs.
• Verify insurance coverage and coordinate with the clinical team.
• Document information accurately in the Epic system.
• Schedule admissions and visits for patients and referrals.
• Assist bed coordination and support workflow improvements when needed.
