Job summary

Northeastern University’s F. W. Olin Library in Oakland seeks a Reference Librarian focused on public services and information literacy instruction. You will staff the Reference Desk, teach information literacy sessions, and liaise with academic departments to support the campus community.

The role includes collection development, outreach activities, and maintaining LibGuides while contributing to campus events and service statistics. AMLS degree and library experience strengthen candidacy.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in librarianship from an ALA-accredited institution.
• 1–2 years of professional experience in an academic library preferred.
• Effective teaching skills in group and individual settings.
• Experience using databases, electronic resources, online catalogs, web-based resources, and print resources.

Responsibilities

• Staff the Reference Desk and assist patrons with research and inquiries.
• Plan and teach information literacy sessions and create LibGuides.
• Serve as liaison to academic departments and participate in outreach.
• Develop collection materials and supports such as booklists and displays.
• Oversee general public services including circulation, signage, and technology support.
