Job summary

Atrium Health, Winston Campus in Winston-Salem, NC, is hiring for a Full-Time Day shift Laboratory Technician in the Reference Lab Testing department. Typical schedule is 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with weekends and holidays as needed.

You will perform preanalytical specimen processing, evaluate specimens for acceptability, prepare and document send-out tests, and ensure accurate reference lab requisitions and billing information. Strong customer service and data entry skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required.
• Typically requires 2 years of healthcare or clinical lab experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs preanalytical specimen processing for referred clinical testing; evaluates specimens for acceptability and prioritizes testing.
• Accurately processes specimens for send-out testing; documents billing information for accurate reimbursement.
• Performs postanalytical resulting for non-interfaced testing; ensures timely submission to reference labs.
• Monitors test pending logs and reconciles overdue logs; communicates test delays as needed.
• Provides excellent customer service and collaborates with internal and external clients to resolve issues.
• Supports QI activities and maintains knowledge base for referral testing workflow changes.
