Job summary

City and County of San Francisco is seeking a Criminal Justice Specialist II within the San Francisco Adult Probation Department. The role focuses on pretrial services, court liaison duties, and coordination with courts, jails, and law enforcement to promote public safety and successful reentry.

The position may involve supervision of paraprofessional or clerical staff and requires strong analytical and collaborative skills to drive systemwide improvements in pretrial outcomes.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of modern research methods used in sociologic, demographic and criminal justice studies.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships, communicate in court and public settings, and prepare clear reports and memoranda.
• Knowledge of San Francisco metropolitan area and its population, services for multi‑ethnic groups and disadvantaged populations.

Responsibilities

• Provide real‑time communication, coordination, and case support between Pretrial Services, the courts, local jails, law enforcement, and other partners.
• Serve as primary in‑court representative for Pretrial Services, conveying timely information for informed release decisions.
• Attend arraignments and court proceedings, provide updates, and respond to time‑sensitive inquiries in fast‑paced settings.
• Oversee a range of pretrial supervision activities, including monitoring compliance and coordinating with partner agencies.
• Contribute to planning and coordination meetings and support system‑wide outcomes for reentry and violence reduction.
