Job summary

City and County of San Francisco in San Francisco, CA, seeks a high‑level leader to guide the Reentry Division within the Adult Probation Department. The role directs complex programs, develops new services, and coordinates with city partners to strengthen reentry outcomes and public safety.

The position requires extensive leadership, program design, and the ability to resolve policy and stakeholder issues with independent judgment.

Qualifications

• Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university AND three (3) years full-time equivalent experience performing professional level work in Reentry Services.
• Substitution: May substitute up to 2 years of education for Bachelor of Arts degrees with additional years of experience.
• Knowledge of management and administrative techniques applicable to operations; State and Federal regulations; budget development and administration; personnel administration.

Responsibilities

• Manages complex programs, operational activities, and strategic projects, ensuring alignment with departmental priorities and measurable outcomes.
• Develops and implements new programs and initiatives in response to emerging needs, including program models, implementation strategies, and performance measures.
• Provides leadership and managerial oversight to staff; supervises, trains, coaches, and evaluates personnel; coordinates consultants and contractors.
• Works with executive leadership to develop goals, procedures, and strategies for the Reentry Division.
• Maintains an active leadership presence in the community and develops strategic partnerships with organizations and stakeholders.
• Monitors legislation and policy developments affecting probation, reentry, and public safety; recommends implementation strategies.
