Job summary

Project RETURN, Inc. seeks a Housing Director to lead the Bridge Housing program in Milwaukee, guiding trauma-informed services for residents and coordinating with the Executive Director and Board.

The role oversees a team including a Safety Monitor, Housing Case Managers, interns, and volunteers to ensure high-quality reentry support. Responsibilities include policy development, program evaluation, and strong community partnerships to expand capacity and improve outcomes for residents

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in social work/human services; and/or five years in leadership in human services.
• Lived experience with incarceration is valued where applicable.
• Experience in housing, reentry, case management or nonprofit programs.
• Knowledge of government funding sources and Medicaid reporting.
• Trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and person-centered approaches.
• Ability to supervise staff and coordinate services; strong operating skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft and Google Workspace; HMIS experience valued.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the Bridge Housing program using trauma-informed practices.
• Develop, manage, and evaluate housing policies, services, and partnerships.
• Ensure housing services are safe, effective, and aligned with the mission.
• Oversee daily housing operations and staff performance.
• Supervise on-site Safety Monitor, Resident Assistants and Housing Case Managers.
• Coordinate resident services and transitions for graduates.
• Review applications and interview potential residents for admissions.
• Collaborate with staff, leadership, Board, and external partners monthly.
• Prepare timely monthly and quarterly program reports.
