Job summary

Montana Department of Corrections is seeking a Community Support Specialist at the Flathead Valley Reentry Center in Kalispell, MT. The role focuses on facilitating safe, structured reentry and daily resident support services.

Responsibilities include coordinating transport, conducting wellness checks, managing check-ins/outs, safety searches, and front desk operations to promote community well‑being.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and provide daily transportation for residents to employment sites, medical appointments, and other program‑approved activities.
• Conduct wellness and accountability checks at resident workplaces.
• Manage resident check‑ins and check‑outs in accordance with facility policy.
• Perform routine room, facility and Resident Offender searches to ensure safety and compliance.
• Answer and route incoming calls with professionalism and accuracy.
• Staff the front desk and maintain a secure, welcoming reception area.
• Support general facility operations and contribute to program objectives as needed.
