Job summary

Transport Refrigeration, Inc. is seeking a professional Reefer/Trailer Technician in De Pere, WI. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain Thermo King and other transport refrigeration units, perform PMs, and troubleshoot diesel engines, electrical systems, and HVAC components.

Qualifications

• Professional experience as Reefer, Diesel, Trailer or Heavy-Duty technician preferred.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with diesel engines, refrigeration, HVAC, APUs, trailers, or heavy-duty equipment.
• Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain Thermo King and other transport refrigeration units.
• Perform preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs.
• Troubleshoot diesel engines, refrigeration systems, electrical components, and controls.
• Service APUs, diesel-fired heaters, and auxiliary power systems.
• Diagnose and repair truck cab air conditioning and HVAC systems.

What You’ll Do

Primary Responsibilities: Reefer & Transport Refrigeration

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain Thermo King and other transport refrigeration units
• Perform preventative maintenance (PMs) and mechanical repairs
• Troubleshoot diesel engines, refrigeration systems, electrical components, and controls
• Service and repair APUs, diesel-fired heaters, and auxiliary power systems
• Diagnose and repair truck cab air conditioning and HVAC systems
• Perform electrical troubleshooting, testing, and component replacement
• Use OEM diagnostic software, test equipment, shop tools, hoists, and other service equipment
• Complete accurate service documentation and work orders
• Meet standard repair times while maintaining quality and safety
• Participate in road service calls and an on-call rotation as required after training

Secondary Responsibilities: Trailer Repair

• Inspect trailers and perform preventative maintenance
• Diagnose and repair trailer brakes, lighting, and electrical systems
• Repair trailer doors, floors, and other components
• Assist with structural repairs, welding, and fabrication as needed
• Help maintain safe, clean, and organized shop operations
• Follow repair procedures and complete required service documentation

What We’re Looking For

• Professional experience as a Reefer Technician, Diesel Technician, Diesel Mechanic, Trailer Technician, or Heavy-Duty Technician preferred
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic troubleshooting skills
• Experience with diesel engines, refrigeration, HVAC, APUs, trailers, or heavy-duty equipment
• Transport refrigeration experience preferred; experienced diesel or heavy-duty technicians with transferable skills are encouraged to apply
• High school diploma/GED or equivalent technical experience
• Valid, unrestricted driver’s license
• Ability to obtain and maintain required tools, including a toolbox and appropriate hand and specialty tools
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
• Dependable, professional, and safety-focused work habits
• Ability to work overtime when needed
• Willingness to learn new systems, attend training, and earn industry certifications

Physical & Work Requirements

• Lift and move equipment and parts, including items weighing 50 lbs or more
• Stand, walk, bend, twist, squat, and climb around trucks and trailers
• Use hand tools, diagnostic equipment, hoists, and other shop equipment
• Work safely in a busy service environment
• Willingness to travel
