Job summary

Alter Trading Corporation is seeking a Light Equipment Operator for its Norfolk, NE location. The role supports recycling operations by handling forklifts, shears, balers, and other yard equipment while ensuring safety and quality standards.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, prior equipment experience, and the ability to lift 30–50 lbs (100+ lbs with a 2-person lift). Customer/vendor interaction and a proactive attitude are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience operating equipment including forklifts, wheel loaders, bobcats, stationary balers or shears required.
• Candidate must be able to lift a minimum of 30-50 lbs. and 100+lbs on 2-person lift.
• Ability to interact effectively with customers and vendors; willing to learn and be self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of equipment (forklift, grapple crane, stationary baler, stationary shear, etc.).
• Inspect equipment and ensure safety and proper functioning.
• Load, unload, and sort material; inspect materials to quality standards.
• Know material grades and what materials can be loaded.
• Use yard equipment (shag truck, forklifts, skid steer, wheel loader, baler, shear).
• Perform basic maintenance on machinery.
• Follow safety standards and wear PPE.
