Job summary

The Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a Waste/Recycling Worker responsible for collection, sorting, preparation and processing of recyclable materials for marketing.

You will operate equipment such as bailers, forklifts, front-end loaders and compactors, perform preventive maintenance, maintain logs, and keep work areas neat and safe.

High School diploma or GED required; Florida CDL License/Class B preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to receive public with courtesy.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Knowledge of solid waste/recycling principles and practices.

• Prepare and process recyclable materials for marketing.

• Provide preventive maintenance as may be required for recycling equipment.
• Maintain equipment and vehicle logs.
• Maintain work areas in neat, orderly, and safe manner.
• Follow guidelines of worker safety as required.
• Report and/or respond to accidents, unusual incidents, or public complaints as soon as feasibly possible.
• Performance of other job related duties as assigned.
