Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is seeking a Recycling Sorter to join our team. This role involves hand sorting recyclable materials and waste from the stream, ensuring contaminants are removed to maintain sale quality.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, follow safety procedures, wear PPE, and collaborate with colleagues. The position requires attention to detail and the ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to distinguish between various recyclable materials.
• Self-starter with aggressive work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Understanding and compliance with safety protocols.
• Good verbal communication with colleagues and management.

Responsibilities

• Perform sorting duties in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
• Utilize proper PPE and comply with Lock Out Tag Out procedures consistently.
• Inspect materials and sort items or materials into designated areas according to type, size, condition, color, or paper grade.
• Pull contaminants out of paper or off of floor.
• Perform cleaning duties related to plant equipment and general housekeeping.
• Report system problems immediately to management.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and surrounding area.
• Dump boxes and containers of material into designated area(s).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
