Job summary

City of Stamford is seeking a supervisor to manage daily recycling and sanitation operations under the Director of Operations. The role oversees staff, contractors, and routes across Collections, Transfer Station, and Recycling Center, coordinating with Vehicle Maintenance to keep trucks and equipment in service.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and at least five years of progressively responsible waste management experience, with CDL preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; five years of progressive experience in recycling, sanitation, solid waste collection, disposal, processing or related operations.
• CDL certification is preferred at time of appointment.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; ability to train and supervise staff effectively.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily operation of recycling and sanitation within the City of Stamford.
• Supervises staff and contractors in Collections, Transfer Station, and Recycling Center.
• Coordinates with Vehicle Maintenance on repairs and maintenance of the truck fleet and related equipment.
