Key Responsibilities & Performance Expectations

  • Independently operate, monitor, adjust, start up, and shut down assigned recycling and processing equipment.
  • Operate pulverizer equipment and demonstrate a strong understanding of equipment functionality and system flow.
  • Operate and support extrusion, melt-blending, and pelletizing processes while monitoring equipment conditions, material flow, and process performance.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment and process issues, make appropriate operator-level corrections, and determine when Maintenance support is required.
  • Respond effectively to downtime and abnormal operating conditions to minimize production impact.
  • Perform HD/LD material processing according to established specifications.
  • Complete accurate batching and material staging and make adjustments based on production and quality requirements.
  • Safely operate forklifts, skid steers, and other assigned material-handling equipment.
  • Monitor production and quality performance and make real-time process adjustments to maintain established standards.
  • Independently perform required LOTO procedures and follow all plant safety and emergency response requirements.
  • Maintain adherence to SOPs, BOPs, Critical to Quality (CTQ) standards, and established process specifications.
  • Complete required production, quality, batching, and equipment documentation accurately and on time.
  • Communicate effectively with Production, Quality, and Maintenance to identify and resolve equipment, material, and process concerns.
  • Serve as a technical resource to Operator I employees and support training and cross-training as needed.
  • Demonstrate ownership of assigned equipment and processes and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, reliability, and production efficiency.

  • Operates advanced processing equipment independently with minimal supervision.
  • Understands equipment functionality and how process adjustments affect production and material quality.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots, and responds appropriately to equipment and process abnormalities.
  • Minimizes avoidable downtime through effective first-response troubleshooting.
  • Maintains accurate batching, material processing, and production flow.
  • Meets established safety, production, and quality expectations.
  • Makes sound operating decisions within established procedures and level of authority.
  • Demonstrates ownership and accountability for assigned equipment and processes.
  • Communicates effectively across shifts and with Production, Quality, and Maintenance.
  • Supports the development and training of less-experienced operators.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous manufacturing, production, machine operation, or industrial experience required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of extrusion experience required; plastic extrusion experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience independently operating and troubleshooting industrial or manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience monitoring and adjusting process parameters to maintain production and quality requirements.
  • Experience with pulverizers, shredding, grinding, batching, plastics processing, or similar production equipment preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
  • Forklift and skid steer experience preferred; must be able to obtain and maintain required company certifications.
  • Ability to independently understand and follow SOPs, BOPs, LOTO procedures, and quality specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer skills for production reporting and material transactions.
  • Work schedule flexibility based on business needs.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and maneuver large or cumbersome materials and equipment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during a 12-hour shift with scheduled breaks.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and work safely around industrial machinery and mobile equipment.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment where temperatures may vary based on weather and operating conditions.
  • Successful completion of a job-related physical abilities assessment may be required.
