Job summary

James Hardie in Ohio is seeking a Production Operator Assistant for a 24/7 extrusion environment. Shift runs from 6:45 AM to 7:00 PM with a pay rate of $19 per hour.

The role supports the extrusion operator and focuses on safety, quality, and productivity within a large manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will have a High School diploma or GED, good English reading/writing skills, and the ability to lift up to 100 lbs.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• 1+ years of manufacturing experience preferred; however, no prior experience is necessary.
• Ability to read, write, and understand the English language.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; read gauges and use measuring devices.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the job including lifting up to 100 lbs.
• Ability to stand for full shifts; kneeling, overhead lifting, bending, climbing and crawling.
• Ability to work in a hot manufacturing environment.
• Must be self-directed, motivated and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to accident-free operations and comply with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
• Assist the department in producing a quality product per specifications; complete operator reports with accuracy.
• Monitor, complete, and document quality checks to ensure products meet standards prior to packaging.
• Perform placement of pallets, proper packaging, and label finished material per process instructions.
• Communicate daily issues to team members and leaders as needed.
• In the Rail Plant, assist extrusion operator with machine cleaning functions as needed.
• Follow all company policies, practices, and procedures; maintain area housekeeping.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

The Production Assistant is responsible for properly performing activities relative to assisting the extrusion operator in efficiently operating the extrusion equipment and producing quality products within a large, 24/7 manufacturing environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Contribute to accident-free operations and compliance to all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements and regulations.
• Assist the department in producing a quality product based upon product specifications; complete production operator reports with high attention to detail.
• Monitor, complete, and document quality checks to assure quality of the products (color, surface, size, etc.) meets product standards prior to packaging, as required.
• Perform placement of pallets, proper packaging techniques, and attach labels for finished material according to process instructions and product specifications.
• Communicate daily issues and pertinent information to production assistants, assistant operators, operators and team leaders as needed.
• In the Rail Plant, may assist extrusion operator with all machine cleaning functions including saws, tanks, etc. as needed.
• Understand and follow all company policies, practices, and procedures.
• Perform housekeeping duties in the production area.
• Perform additional duties as needed and/or assigned by management.

Qualifications, Education and Experience:

• High School or GED required
• 1+ years of manufacturing experience, preferred; however, no prior experience is necessary.
• Ability to read, write, and understand the English language. Basic mathematical proficiency in the addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers and fractions.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, read gauges and use similar measuring devices.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the job including: Push / Pull / Lift / Manipulate 10lbs – 100lbs.
• Ability to stand for complete shift; kneeling, lifting overhead, bending climbing and crawling are often required.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment where temperatures that can become very hot depending on the weather.
• Must be self-directed and motivated and able to multi-task in fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment.
• Work schedule flexibility, with advance notice, to accommodate needs of the business.
