Job summary

Habitat for Humanity Portland Region is seeking a Recycling Associate for the West Portland location. You will work with store team members and volunteers to manage day-to-day recycling activities, ensure material quality, and support customer interactions while upholding Habitat’s mission.

The role involves light to heavy lifting, operating recycling processes, and maintaining a safe, organized workspace across two stores (Tigard and Beaverton).

Qualifications

• 1 year of customer service experience.
• Attention to detail and a passion for reuse and recycling.
• Ability to work with staff and volunteers under leadership.
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment.
• Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with using basic tools and equipment or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of recycling and sustainability initiatives at the ReStore.
• Greet the public and inspect materials meeting program criteria; decline non-qualifying items.
• Guide volunteers in daily recycling tasks with Store Volunteer Coordinator.
• Process, inspect, and reduce contamination in recycling streams.
• Keep facilities clean and organized, including receiving areas and break rooms.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and sorting materials for transport.
