Job summary

The University of North Florida Board of Trustees is seeking a facilities worker to coordinate and perform campus recycling and refuse collection. You will operate large dump trucks, pickup trucks, and utility vehicles, gather materials for resale or disposal, and transport them to recycling vendors as needed.

The role requires safe operation, adherence to university policies, and may include event support and routine setup tasks.

Qualifications

• Completion of ninth (9th) grade or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Some positions may require possession of a classified driver's license appropriate to a type of vehicle operated.
• Background check and, per university policy, possible credit check.

Responsibilities

• Collection of refuse and recyclable materials on campus.
• Processes recyclable/refuse materials.
• Disposes of scrap metals and surplus equipment.
• Tables/chairs set-up requests and event staffing support.
• Assist supervisor with coordinating daily departmental operations.
• Possess work orders in work management system.
• Receives and delivers supplies.
• Assist other departments as needed.
• Assist with any other Physical Facilities responsibilities as requested by supervisor.
• Tier 2 campus emergency responder; respond and return to campus as directed.

General Description / Primary Purpose:

This is work coordinating and performing recycle and refuse collection on the university campus to include operating large dump trucks, pickup trucks, utility vehicles with tow able carts, forklifts and other equipment in a safe and legal manner while performing the duties of gathering these materials for resale or disposal from throughout the campus and transporting them off campus to recycling vendors when required.

Job Function:

• Processes recyclable/refuse materials.
• Disposes of scrap metals.
• Disposes of surplus equipment.
• Tables/chairs set-up requests.
• Supplementary responsibilities. Assist supervisor with coordinating daily departmental operations
• Possess work orders in work management system
• Special set-up requests
• Graduations
• Provides manpower during events
• Cleans up after events
• Receives and delivers supplies
• Assists other departments as needed
• Assist with any other Physical Facilities responsibilities as requested by supervisor.
• This position is designated as a Tier 2 respondent for designated campus emergencies and events. In the event of a declared campus emergency, the position incumbent will make every effort to return to campus when directed.

Supervision Received:

Close supervision. The incumbent's work is reviewed by the supervisor for accuracy and to ensure instructions are being followed.
