Job summary

Aston Carter seeks a Legal Recruiter (Recruiter 3) to independently source and build pipelines for critical legal and public policy roles. You will partner with hiring teams to define profiles, engage passive candidates, and deliver high-quality talent in a fast-paced corporate setting.

You will manage multiple tasks with autonomy, track KPIs, and refine strategies to meet hiring objectives. This contract role is based onsite in Seattle with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of recruiting experience, including legal recruiting.
  • Functional sourcing experience for hard-to-fill roles.
  • Proven legal recruiting experience in legal/public policy.
  • Corporate talent acquisition experience partnering with internal stakeholders.
  • Experience managing full-cycle recruitment or advanced sourcing.
  • Ability to calibrate with hiring teams on candidate profiles.
  • Capacity to meet sourcing targets and KPIs.
  • Autonomy to plan and accomplish recruiting objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Independently source and identify talent pipelines for critical roles within the Legal and Public Policy domains.
  • Partner with hiring teams to calibrate role requirements and search strategies.
  • Conduct ~40% passive sourcing, identifying and engaging prospective candidates.
  • Speak with candidates ~35% of time to assess qualifications and fit.
  • Screen and progress inbound candidates.
  • Build targeted pipelines leveraging legal sourcing experience.
  • Collaborate with corporate stakeholders to ensure a positive talent acquisition experience.
  • Track sourcing targets and performance indicators for pipeline health and delivery.
  • Refine search strategies using sound judgment and creativity.
  • Perform recruiting tasks with minimal supervision and ownership for results.
  • Report progress to manager on search progress and pipeline status.

Job Title: Legal Recruiter (Recruiter 3)
Job Description

This role focuses on independently sourcing and building strong talent pipelines for critical positions within the Legal and Public Policy space. You collaborate closely with hiring teams to understand ideal candidate profiles and proactively identify, engage, and deliver high-quality legal talent. You rely on your extensive recruiting experience and professional judgment to plan and accomplish goals, using a wide degree of creativity and autonomy to manage a variety of recruiting tasks in a fast-paced corporate environment.

Responsibilities
  • Independently source and identify talent pipelines for critical roles within the Legal and Public Policy domains.
  • Partner with hiring teams to calibrate on role requirements, candidate profiles, and search strategies for legal and related positions.
  • Conduct approximately 40% of your time on passive sourcing activities, including identifying, researching, and engaging prospective candidates who are not actively applying.
  • Manage approximately 35% of your time speaking with candidates to assess qualifications, interest, and fit for current and future legal opportunities.
  • Handle applicant bids and inbound candidates as a smaller portion of your workload, ensuring they are appropriately screened and progressed.
  • Leverage functional sourcing experience to identify specialized legal talent across multiple practice areas and levels.
  • Utilize prior legal sourcing and recruiting experience to build targeted pipelines for legal and public policy roles.
  • Collaborate with corporate stakeholders and hiring managers to ensure a positive and efficient talent acquisition experience.
  • Track and meet sourcing targets and performance indicators related to pipeline health and candidate delivery.
  • Apply sound judgment and creativity to refine search strategies, overcome sourcing challenges, and continuously improve recruiting outcomes.
  • Perform a variety of recruiting and sourcing tasks with minimal supervision, demonstrating ownership and accountability for results.
  • Report to a manager or department leader, providing regular updates on search progress, pipeline status, and candidate activity.
Essential Skills
  • At least 5+ years of recruiting experience, including legal recruiting experience.
  • Demonstrated functional sourcing experience, particularly for specialized or hard-to-fill roles.
  • Proven legal sourcing experience, preferably within the Legal and Public Policy space.
  • Corporate talent acquisition, including partnering with internal stakeholders and hiring teams.
  • Experience as a legal recruiter managing full-cycle recruitment or advanced sourcing responsibilities.
  • Strong ability to calibrate with hiring teams to understand and refine ideal candidate profiles.
  • Comfort working with sourcing targets and performance indicators, with a focus on meeting or exceeding goals.
  • Capacity to rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish recruiting objectives.
  • Ability to handle a wide range of recruiting tasks while maintaining quality and timeliness.
  • Stable work history with demonstrated commitment to roles, as frequent job hopping is not aligned with this position.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
  • Any relevant degrees or certifications are considered a plus.
  • Prior experience in a corporate environment supporting legal or public policy functions.
  • Proven success in roles that required building and maintaining legal talent pipelines.
  • Ability to operate with a wide degree of creativity and latitude in sourcing strategies.
  • Strong communication skills for engaging candidates and collaborating with hiring teams.
  • Experience working in environments where sourcing performance and targets are closely monitored.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Seattle, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $55.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
