Job summary

Waterstone Human Capital is assisting a fast-growing infrastructure contractor in Salt Lake City to recruit for mission critical data center construction roles. This new seat reports to the Head of People and will shape how the company hires for its most complex work.

You'll own search-style, full-cycle recruiting for PMs, Senior PMs, PX, and related roles across multiple technical scopes, including union and non-union leadership hiring as the company expands.

Qualifications

• 8+ years recruiting in construction, energy infrastructure, industrial, or manufacturing automation and controls.
• Hands-on experience recruiting for data center or mission critical construction.
• Track record filling PM, Sr PM, and PX roles across multiple scopes on the same project type.
• Head-hunting in your DNA; executive or retained search background is a strong plus.
• Discretion you don't have to think about.
• Experience recruiting in union environments preferred.
• History of closing candidates against competing offers from other GCs and electrical contractors.
• Experience in hypergrowth or new-market expansion.

Responsibilities

• Search-style, full-cycle recruiting for PMs, Senior PMs, and Project Executives; staff on data center sites.
• Staff leadership teams on compressed timelines as new projects mobilize.
• Map named GC and trade contractor rosters and build relationships with non-active candidates.
• Technical screening across foundations, heavy civil, MV electrical, and telecom-adjacent scopes.
• Partner with operations leadership up to SVP level to define role scopes.
• Discuss unannounced projects confidentially with candidates and clients.
• Maintain pipeline health and time-to-fill reporting; onboarding support after offers.

Job title: Recruiter, Mission Critical & Data Center Construction

The best data center PMs aren't on job boards. We need a recruiter who already knows where they are.

We are assisting our client, a fast-growing infrastructure contractor, in a confidential search. They are building a mission critical practice across hyperscale data center, power, and industrial projects. The company has nearly doubled in size in the past year, and the data center pipeline is only getting bigger.

This is a new seat, reporting directly to the Head of People. You'll shape how the company recruits for its most complex work, and strong performers will have room to grow into leading the function. If you've spent years wishing someone would just let you go headhunt, this is that job.

What You'll Own

• Search-style, full-cycle recruiting for Project Managers, Senior PMs, and Project Executives. You'll also recruit superintendents, QA/QC, safety, VDC/BIM, scheduling, estimating, and project controls talent on data center sites.
• Full leadership teams on compressed timelines. When a new project mobilizes, you'll staff the whole team, not one req at a time.
• Target lists and passive outreach. You'll map named GC and trade contractor rosters and build relationships with people who aren't looking.
• Technical screening across foundations and heavy civil, medium voltage electrical, and telecom-adjacent civil scope. You'll tell the candidate who ran the scope from the one who coordinated around it.
• Union and non-union leadership hiring as the company opens new regions and divisions.
• Hiring manager partnership. You'll work with operations leadership, up to the SVP level, to turn project needs into clear role scope and level.
• Confidential conversations about unannounced projects and unnamed clients.
• Pipeline health and time-to-fill reporting in a market where competitors are chasing the same people. A dedicated onboarding team takes it from offer acceptance.

What You Bring

• 8+ years recruiting in construction, energy infrastructure, industrial, or manufacturing automation and controls.
• Hands-on experience recruiting for data center or mission critical construction. This is required.
• A track record filling PM, Sr PM, and PX roles across multiple technical scopes on the same project type.
• Headhunting in your DNA. An executive or retained search background is a strong plus.
• Real construction fluency. You can hold your own in a conversation about vault handoffs, switchgear commissioning, or mass excavation sequencing, and you notice when a candidate is talking around a gap.
• Experience recruiting in union environments (strongly preferred).
• A history of closing candidates against competing offers from other GCs and electrical contractors.
• Experience in hypergrowth or new-market expansion.
• Discretion you don't have to think about.

The details

• Location: Hybrid or remote, based in the Salt Lake City, Phoenix, or Las Vegas metro area. Regular travel to project sites and offices is required.
