Job summary

NSC is seeking a Skilled Trades Recruiter to source, attract and hire qualified trades professionals—electricians, plumbers, HVAC techs, welders, and related roles—for client needs in Indiana and beyond.

You will manage the full‑cycle recruiting process, build pipelines, screen candidates, coordinate interviews and onboarding, and partner with hiring managers, trade schools, and industry partners to meet timelines.

Job description

The Skilled Trades Recruiter is responsible for sourcing, attracting, and hiring qualified skilled trades professionals to meet client and organizational workforce needs. This role manages the full-cycle recruiting process, from sourcing and screening candidates through onboarding, while building strong relationships with candidates, hiring managers, trade schools, and industry partners. The ideal candidate understands the unique challenges of recruiting skilled trades talent and is committed to delivering a high-quality candidate experience while supporting company growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process for skilled trades positions, including electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, welders, mechanics, construction professionals, and other skilled labor roles.
  • Source qualified candidates through job boards, social media, referrals, networking, trade schools, apprenticeship programs, career fairs, and community outreach.
  • Conduct phone screenings and interviews to evaluate candidates' technical skills, certifications, work history, and cultural fit.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified skilled trades candidates to support current and future hiring needs.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand workforce requirements, job specifications, scheduling needs, and project timelines.
  • Coordinate interviews, reference checks, background screenings, and pre-employment requirements.
  • Extend employment offers and communicate compensation, start dates, and onboarding details.
  • Maintain regular communication with candidates throughout the hiring process to ensure a positive recruiting experience.
  • Assist with creating and posting compelling job advertisements that attract skilled trades professionals.
  • Attend hiring events, job fairs, trade school events, and community networking opportunities to promote employment opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate recruiting records and applicant tracking system (ATS) documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to applicants, employees, and hiring managers through phone, email, and in-person communication.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One (1) year of recruiting, staffing, sales, customer service, or call center experience required.
  • Experience recruiting skilled trades, construction, manufacturing, industrial, or blue-collar positions is preferred.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple open positions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with applicant tracking systems, Microsoft Office, and online recruiting platforms.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to attend recruiting events as needed (preferred).
