SRC Texas Scottish Rite for Children is seeking a Recreational Therapist (CTRS) for a temporary role in Dallas Hospital. The position supports pediatric patients through structured assessment, goals, and therapeutic recreation services.

Responsibilities include documenting progress, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and ensuring safety and compliance with hospital policies. Requires CTRS, CPR, and a valid driver’s license.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation and Leisure with emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation.
• Current NCTRC certification as CTRS.
• Current CPR certification.
• Driver's license with eligibility to drive hospital vehicles.

Responsabilidades

• Performs interview and assessment of patient’s leisure functioning and needs.
• Establishes leisure-related goals and determines interventions to achieve them.
• Records clinical notes in EMR and prepares progress reports for the treatment team.
• Provides therapeutic recreation services to patients at SRC.
• Monitors equipment and TR areas; reports repairs or replacements as needed.
• Participates in interdisciplinary treatment rounds and family meetings.
• Collaborates with SRC departments and community agencies supporting access for patients.
• Attends SRC camps as assigned and suggests improvements where needed.

Job Posting Title:

Recreational Therapist - CTRS

Location:

Dallas - Hospital

Additional Posting Details:

Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm. Approx. 25-30 hours per week. Temp position November 2026 through May 1, 2027.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Performs interview and assessment of patient's leisure functioning and leisure related needs.
• Establishes appropriate leisure related goals based on assessment findings and determines interventions by which these goals are achieved.
• Records clinical treatment notes in EMR and prepares progress reports for oral presentation to treatment team members.
• Provides therapeutic recreation services offered to patients at Scottish Rite.
• Monitors use and condition of recreational equipment as well as TR related areas. Reports need for repair or replacement of supplies, equipment, and facilities.
• Participates as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team, attends rounds, patient care conferences, and meetings with families as assigned.
• Works collaboratively with other SRC departments.
• Serve as liaison with at least 1 community agency that promotes access/inclusion for patients served by SRC.
• Attends assigned SRC camps.
• Make recommendations for personal and/or departmental performance improvement.
• Comply with all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Maintains professional certification(s).

Required Skills/Abilities

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation and Leisure with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation.
• Current certification by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) at the professional level of Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS).
• Current CPR.
• Current drivers license with eligibility to drive hospital vehicles.
