An Indiana Medicaid waiver provider agency is seeking an enthusiastic Board Certified Recreational Therapist to provide therapy sessions in clients' homes and local facilities. The position includes managing a caseload, planning activities, and requires strong communication and team collaboration skills. Qualifications

Job description

Thank you for considering Embracing Abilities as your employer. We are a family owned and operated Indiana Medicaid waiver provider agency. We serve adults and children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Autism, CP, Dual Diagnosis, as well as other disabilities.We are seeking an enthusiastic Board Certified Recreational Therapist to travel and conduct therapy sessions with clients in their homes and/or community based facilities. Recreational Therapist must be able to effectively communicate with other professionals, conduct assessments, program plan, implement, document, and evaluate treatment.

Recreational Therapists provide individual and group recreational therapy services in the client’s home or local facilities. Therapist must have reliable transportation and willing to drive to and from clients. Therapists are encouraged to take their clients to local community interests for therapy sessions which include but are not limited to local gyms, parks, sporting events, concerts, malls, bowling, swimming pools and much more. Therapists are able to maintain their own schedules to meet their specific needs. You will have a chance to build a caseload that works around that schedule. You will have full autonomy on therapeutic interventions and techniques used to work towards completing individual goals and objectives. Responsibilities listed below:

  • Working independently managing your own caseload.
  • You will be required to assess each client’s needs using a standardized recreational therapy assessment and developing treatment plans.
  • Track client’s goals and objectives to help prepare quarterly reports indicative of progress or regression.
  • Planning and providing appropriate recreational therapy activities and interventions.
  • Completing progress notes, due by the end of each month.
  • Attending quarterly meetings to report therapy progress with team members.
  • Monthly clinical supervision

*This position is an in person position in the state of Indiana. You must reside or relocate to Indiana for this position.*

Requirements
  • Current certification or ability to obtain certification to practice in Indiana as a Recreational Therapist prior to start date.
  • **Graduate from an approved school of Recreational Therapy**
  • Hold a minimum bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. The degree must be in therapeutic recreation or recreational therapy, or related field.
  • Experience or training in the field of intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to work as a team member within a residential, clinical or community setting.
  • Ability to drive with a valid driver's license and insurance with $50,000/$100,000 minimum coverage.
  • Ability to work with assigned clients as well as the ability to train and mentor others. This training may include lifting, transferring and physical management.
