Job summary

Youth Villages in Tennessee offers a rewarding Recreation Therapy Specialist role in our residential campuses for youth ages 6 to 17. You will develop and facilitate therapy-based recreation programs, promote life skills, and work with a multidisciplinary team to support growth and safety.

CTRS eligibility is required, a Bachelor's in Recreation Therapy is mandatory, and experience with at-risk youth is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy is required.
• CTRS certification eligibility is required.
• Experience with at-risk youth is preferred.
• Experience working with youth is required.

Responsibilities

• Develops and facilitates recreation programs (including music, dance, arts and crafts, cultural arts, nature study, swimming, social recreation and games).
• Promotes life skills training through therapeutic activities.
• Coordinates participation in clubs and organizations (student council, intramural sports, volunteer activities).
• Works with the residential treatment team to ensure recreation is well-balanced and integrated with services.
• Maintains recreation equipment and oversees equipment use (canoeing, high ropes).
• Completes daily documentation in an EMR system.
