Job summary

Youth Villages, Inc. is seeking a Recreation Therapist to work with youth ages 6 to 17 in residential programs across Georgia. You will develop engaging activities using sports, arts, and recreation to support trauma-informed care and life skills development.

The role emphasizes collaboration with the treatment team, accurate documentation in EMR, and adapting activities to individual youth needs in a safe, supportive campus environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy required.
• CTRS certification required.
• Experience with at-risk youth preferred.
• Experience working with youth required.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develops and facilitates recreation programs (music, dance, arts and crafts, nature, swimming, games).
• Promotes and coordinates participation in clubs and organizations (student council, intramural sports).
• Works with residential treatment team to ensure recreation is balanced and integrated with services.
• Oversees use of canoeing and high ropes equipment and resident participation on campus.
• Promotes life skills training through therapeutic activities.
• Adapts recreation programs to meet youth needs.
• Maintains and communicates information to the treatment team.
