Job summary

State of South Carolina’s Office of Mental Health in Columbia seeks an Activity Therapist II to support therapy services and clinical program development. You will help plan and lead activity groups, leisure activities and special events while collaborating with the treatment team to promote patient wellness.

The role requires CTRS certification, a master’s degree in Recreation Therapy, and 3 years’ related experience, with a 37.5-hour week and rotating schedule. Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Physical Education or Recreation plus related program experience.
• Master's in Recreation Therapy with required supervised clinical experience.
• CTRS certification and ability to work in a hospital-like setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development and performance improvement of patient care and treatment programs.
• Conduct activity therapy groups, leisure activities and special events.
• Document assessments and progress in the patient’s EMR.
• Support treatment team planning and evaluation of patient outcomes.
• Supervise Activity Therapist I and participate in staff meetings.
