Job summary

SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Mental Health, Anderson, SC, seeks an to plan and implement a comprehensive activity therapy program for adult patients in an acute psychiatric hospital. Under supervision, you will conduct therapy groups, complete assessments, and participate in treatment teams, while maintaining documentation and equipment.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Horticulture Therapy, or Bibliotherapy with at least three months supervised field experience and two years in the field; or a master's degree in these fields with one year of field experience.
• Certification in the individual's field of study.
• Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct goal-oriented therapy groups for adult patients based on treatment team recommendations.
• Plan groups, research materials, prepare patient lists, and record behavior changes.
• Attend treatment team meetings and provide progress information for therapy groups.
• Complete individual Activity Therapy assessments and progress notes for assigned patients.
• Maintain competency in mandatory areas (MANDT, CPR, Compliance) and provide in-service training.
• Record daily statistics and assist in evaluating program effectiveness.
