Job summary

Harborview Rehab Therapy in Seattle, WA, is seeking a Recreation Therapist for per diem day shifts.

Responsibilities include assessing and treating patients, progressing goals, and coordinating with the care team from admission to discharge. Graduation from an accredited Therapeutic Recreation Program or equivalent is required; collaboration with multiple disciplines is essential. WORK SCHEDULE

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
  • Assess, plan and administer safe Recreational Therapy. This will include progression of treatment goals and patient and family education.
  • Assess and treat a patient caseload ranging from routine to complex patient problems and utilize training in the evaluation and treatment process.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines as appropriate to coordinate continuity of patient care from admission to discharge.
Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the disease process, precautions, typical medical treatment and diagnostic procedures, functional abilities, and complications and implications of long term deficits related to primary diagnoses treated in service area.
  • Provide skilled, timely, and effective patient care. Demonstrate competency in administering evaluations and delivering treatment to typical patient. Adapt plan according to patient’s response to interventions.
  • Follow protocols, standards, and guidelines of care relating to specific diagnosis on assigned service.
  • Document intervention and strategies for treatment per workgroup and organizational standards. Documentation includes assessment, measurable criteria, goals, method of treatment, and home program. Notes are thorough, yet concise. Assessments clearly synthesize objective data.
  • Participate in team rounds and imparts other educational information to patient and support systems prior to termination of therapy intervention.
  • Provide home programs and other educational information to patient and support systems prior to termination of therapy intervention.
Requirements

Graduation from an accredited Therapeutic Recreation Program

OR

Equivalent education/experience.
