Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) Graceville Correctional Facility is seeking a Recreation program supervisor to oversee structured recreational and avocation activities for inmates, ensuring ACA standards and FDOC directives are met.

The role requires supervision, program planning, records maintenance, and collaboration with counselors to support inmates’ rehabilitation and skills development in a safe environment at Graceville, FL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in recreation, leisure services or related field preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent and two years experience required.
• One year of supervisory experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and provide instruction to inmates in recreational activities.
• Counsels and motivates inmates regarding behavior, training, personal or work habits and problems.
• Prepare a variety of well-planned recreation activities including arts and crafts, individual and team sports, special interest programs and others.
• Develop and distribute weekly, monthly and annual recreational plans and schedules of activities.
• Manage and control use of equipment and supplies; make minor repairs and recommend purchases.
• Provide information regarding special and scheduled activities.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of participants as required.
• Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
• Maintain accountability of staff, inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.
