Job summary

Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation is seeking a Recreation Supervisor to join the Harris Park Community Center team in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. This role focuses on managing Camp Summit, School Break Camp, and LSPR instructional programs, with Monday–Friday hours and some Saturdays as required.

You will supervise volunteers, part-time staff, and contract professionals, oversee program budgets, and contribute to hiring decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Administration or related field required; 6 years of direct experience may substitute for a 4-year degree; or combination of education & experience.
• Minimum one year experience in Parks and Recreation or related field; leadership preferred.
• Basic first aid, CPR and AED certification required within three months of date of hire.
• CPRP certification preferred.

Job description

Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Recreation Supervisor to join the dynamic team at Harris Park Community Center. This position will be working Monday- Friday, some Saturdays as required. Responsibilities include management and oversight of Camp Summit, School Break Camp and LSPR instructional programs.

Directly supervises volunteers, part-time employees, and contract professionals for recreation programs, classes, facilities and events as assigned. Recommends actions related to hiring, disciplinary actions, advancement, or other changes in employee status. Responsible, with direction and oversight, for the preparation, administration and monitoring of the assigned budget(s).

Minimum qualifications include

• A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Parks and Recreation Administration or a related field is required; at the discretion of the Department, 6 years of direct experience may be substituted for 4 year degree; or a combination of education & experience may be considered.
• Minimum one (1) year experience working in the field of Parks and Recreation or related field and experience in leadership preferred; and,
• Basic first aid, CPR and AED certification required within three (3) months of date of hire.
• A Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred.

Compensation & Benefits: Salary begins at $39,227- $ 49,043 per year
