Eckerd Connects is seeking a Recreation Specialist for the Job Corps program at Old Dominion location in Monroe, VA. The role involves directing trainees in leisure-time recreation, assisting with trips, and supporting water safety initiatives.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with preferred experience in recreation programs. Candidates must be flexible, possess a valid driver's license, and pass a drug screen and background check.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Flexibility with work schedule to include weekends, holidays and/or nights.
• Valid driver’s license in the state of employment with acceptable driving record.
• Must pass a drug screen and background check as required by policy.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and directs trainees in leisure-time recreation and leadership programs.
• Assists in center-sponsored trips and events, including escorting and chaperoning; may drive students on trips/events.
• Assists with Water Safety programming and CIS documentation as applicable.
• Provides instruction in recreational clubs (sports, poetry, drama, arts and crafts).
• Mentors students in Recreation Aide Program to develop life skills.
