Service Contract Act (SCA) Position

Hourly Range: $17.20 to $18.20

Duties and Responsibilities
  • The Recreation Specialist organizes and directs trainees in leisure-time recreation/non-vocational activities and leadership programs.
  • Assists in center-sponsored trips and events including escorting and chaperoning. At times, may drive the students on trips/events.
  • Assists with Water Safety programming (videos, swimming certification and swim lessons) and documentation, if applicable.
  • Provides instruction to trainees in recreational clubs such as sports, poetry, drama, talent shows, arts and crafts, and other creative activities.
  • Mentor students in Recreation Aide Program to help establish life skills.
  • Ensures that all programs comply with Department of Labor requirements.
Qualifications
  • Associates of Arts degree or one (1) year of related experience working with youth.
  • Experience in recreation/non-vocational programs is preferred.
  • Flexible with work schedule to include weekends, holidays and/or nights.
  • Valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
  • CDL with passenger transport endorsement is preferred.
  • Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check.
