Job summary

City of Stoughton seeks a Recreation Site Supervisor to oversee daily operations of recreational programs and events at our local facilities. You will supervise staff and volunteers, enforce rules, assist participants, and serve as the main contact at program sites to ensure a welcoming, safe environment.

This role partners with the Recreation Supervisor to enhance program quality, handles scheduling, safety compliance, incident reporting, and coordination with coaches and staff, including

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of recreation programs, sports leagues, and special events at assigned facilities.
  • Open and close facilities, ensuring equipment is set up before events and cleaned up afterward.
  • Provide on-site assistance to participants, parents, coaches, and recreation staff; address inquiries professionally.
  • Support program staff, coaches, and volunteers with on-site guidance and resources.
  • Ensure programs comply with health, safety, and emergency procedures; administer first aid if needed.
  • Complete other duties assigned by the Recreation Supervisor.

Job description

The Recreation Site Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of assigned recreational programs and events, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-organized environment for participants, volunteers, and staff. This role involves supervising program activities, enforcing facility rules, assisting participants, supervising recreation staff such as recreation assistants or referees, and serving as the primary point of contact at program sites. The Recreation Site Supervisor will work closely with the Recreation Supervisor to support and enhance the quality of recreation programs.

This position will remain open until all are filled.

Program & Event Supervision
  • Oversee daily operations of recreation programs, sports leagues, and special events at assigned facilities.
  • Ensure that programs run on schedule and that any issues or conflicts are addressed promptly.
  • Monitor participant behavior, program activities, and facility use to ensure safety, enforce rules, and resolve conflicts as needed.
Facility Management
  • Open and close facilities, ensuring all equipment is set up before events and cleaned up afterward.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections to identify and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Maintain and manage inventory of program supplies and equipment, ensuring they are stored and handled appropriately.
Customer Service
  • Provide on-site assistance to participants, parents, coaches, and recreation staff, addressing inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Act as a department representative, fostering positive community relations and promoting department programs and services.
Staff Support & Coordination
  • Support program staff, coaches, and volunteers by providing on-site guidance and resources.
  • Communicate regularly with the Recreation Supervisor regarding site needs, staff schedules, and program updates.
  • Step in if a staff member or volunteer does not show up.
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure all programs comply with health, safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Administer first aid and respond to emergencies as necessary.
  • Document any incidents, accidents, or participant injuries and report them to the Recreation Supervisor promptly.
Perform other duties related to the program as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor
  • Completed at least 2 years of high school
  • 16+years old
Knowledge, Skills,& Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Abilitytoworkindependentlyandhandlemultipletasksinafast-pacedenvironment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by program schedules.
Environmental Adaptability
  • Physicaldemandsmayincludeliftingupto30pounds, standing for extended periods, and walking around the facility.
  • Primarily works on-site at recreation centers, parks, and other community facilities.
