  • Ensure cleanliness of facilities and inspect equipment and playgrounds for maintenance.
  • Develop rapport with children and parents and discipline per Agency guidelines.
  • Maintain program equipment and supplies and plan new activities.
  • Attend mandatory trainings and mentor other staff.
  • Build positive relations with parents, school staff, and recreation employees.

Job description

Under direction of the Site Supervisor 1 , the S enior Recreation Leader performs a variety of activ i ties at a community daycare facility, where he/she is responsible for the planning, coordinating and supervising recreation activities. Work requi r es the abili t y to supervise and eng a ge children and serve as on-site manager in the absence of the Site Supervisor 1 . W ork requires skills and training in conducting r ecreation a c tivities. W o rks in conj u nction with the Site Supervisor 1 to devel o p and expand program activities to meet the ne e ds of the c o mmuni t y . Work is subj e c t to regular inspec t ion and review for conformity to established standa r ds and methods.

Schedule: M, T, Th, & F: 1:00pm to 6:00pm W: Noon to 6:00pm

The duties of this position shall include the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed:

Assists in the organization of games and maintains discipline at indoor and outdoor play area.

Observes necessary precautions to secure the safety of recreation participants and spectators and renders routine first aid in case of minor injury.

Conducts a diversified program of children’s activities.

Assists Site Supervisor 1 in providing general supervision of the various assigned activities.

Performs administrative duties assigned by the Site Supervisor 1.

Acts as a chaperone for field trips or other activities needing supervision.

Ensures the cleanliness of indoor and outdoor facilities.

Inspects all facilities, playground and equipment and recommends maintenance and repair work as necessary.

Develops a rapport with children and parents and provides appropriate disciplinary measures according to Agency parameters.

Maintains program equipment and supplies.

Plans and implements recreation activities.

Maintains professional attitude, communication and appearance.

Demonstrates age appropriate behavior and language.

Attends all mandatory trainings as assigned by Site Supervisor 1 and/or Site Supervisor 2

Serves as a mentor for Recreation Leaders and program participants.

Builds and maintains positive relations with parents, school administrators and all recreation employees.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists supervisor in supervising Recreation Leaders in childcare p r ograms. C a rries out supervisory responsibilities in accor d ance with t h e Agency ’s policies and applic a ble laws.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma / GED required plus two years of experience; OR College degree in related field with experience and/or training preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to re a d and inter p ret documents such as safety rules, operating a nd maintenance instr u ct i ons, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effec t ively before groups of c u stomers or employees of organizati o n.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to so lv e practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where on l y limited sta n dardization exists. Ability to inter p ret a variety of instructions furnished in written , oral , diagram, or schedule fo rm .

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must have own transportation. Fingerprint and TB clearance are a condition of employment and must be obtained prior to start date. Mandated Trainings required, but may be obtained within 15 days of hire date.

Schedule

September 16 through November 26, 2024. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Fridays - 1:00pm to 6:0 6pm and Wednesdays - noon to 6:00PM
