The City of Savannah is seeking a Recreation Programming Assistant to provide a variety of therapeutic, recreational, educational, social, and cultural activities for all ages in the community.

Responsibilities include coordinating daily schedules, supervising participants, maintaining records, and assisting with safety and first aid when needed. A valid driver's license is desired, and a HS diploma or GED is required with 6 months to a year of leadership experience.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with less than one year of volunteer or paid leadership experience.
  • 6 months to a year of experience as a volunteer or paid leader for those 18 years old and up.
  • A valid driver's license is desired.
  • First Aid/CPR certification desired but not required.
  • Background investigation and pre-employment medical screening required.

  • Plans, develops, organizes, and leads engaging activities for various age groups.
  • Implements precautions to ensure safety of participants.
  • Coordinates the daily schedule of activities.
  • Supervises participants in sports, arts, crafts, and computer-based activities.
  • Resolves problems and conflicts among participants.
  • Maintains equipment, attendance records, and related documentation.
  • Provides first aid for minor injuries if needed.
  • May transport participants and enforce rules.

  • Plans, develop, organizes, and leads a variety of engaging therapeutic, recreational, educational, social, and cultural activities designed to enhance the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being of participants.
  • Implements precautions to ensure the safety of leisure services participants and spectators.
  • Coordinates the daily schedule of activities.
  • Supervises children, adults, and senior citizens in a variety of activities, including but not limited to sports, arts, crafts, recreational games, and computers.
  • Resolves problems and conflicts among participants.
  • Orders, issues, and collects equipment and supplies from participants.
  • Maintains activity and attendance records of participants during functions.
  • Provides first aid in cases of minor injuries.
  • May transport participants.
  • Enforces rules and regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

High School Diploma or GED required with years less than one year of experience as a volunteer or paid leader; or any equivalent combination or education, training, and experience. Six (6) months to a year of experience as a volunteer or paid leader for those 18 years old and up.

A valid driver's license is desired.

First Aid/CPR certification Desired but not required.

Additional Requirements

Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (Hours Varies)
