Job summary

Forsyth County Government seeks a Recreation Programs Coordinator to coordinate a wide range of community recreational, outdoor, athletic, and therapeutic activities. The role includes supervising seasonal staff, volunteers, and officials, managing registrations, and ensuring safety compliance across facilities.

Responsibilities include planning programs, promoting events, maintaining records and budgets, and collaborating with the Recreation Board to deliver high-quality community services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Park and Recreation Administration or a related field; supplemented by one year of experience and/or training in recreation program administration, or athletic league coordination, or Therapeutic Recreation, public interaction, and supervision.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
• CPRP status through NRPA is preferred but not required; CTRS status through NCTRC is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate a variety of recreational, outdoor, athletic, and therapeutic programs and events.
• Supervise, direct, and evaluate seasonal staff, volunteers, interns, and officials; conduct performance appraisals.
• Ensure compliance with codes, safety procedures, and policies; monitor work environment and equipment safety.
• Plan and supervise community programs and facility operations; manage registrations and facility reservations.
• Develop program goals, assess community needs, and recommend new or revised programs.
• Promote programs and prepare promotional materials and seasonal brochures.
• Maintain records, budgets, and reports; monitor revenues and expenditures.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Park and Recreation Administration or a related field

One year of experience or training in recreation program administration/athletic league coordination/therapeutic recreation/public interaction/supervision

Possession of valid Georgia driver’s license

CPRP status preferred

CTRS status preferred
