Job summary

DeKalb Health in West Des Moines, IA, is seeking a Recreation Coordinator to plan, develop, implement and evaluate camps, clinics, leagues and programs for participants of all ages. You will recruit and supervise seasonal staff, coordinate instructors and partners, monitor budgets and registrations, and serve as a primary contact for families.

Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Education, Physical Education, Sports Management, or related area plus a minimum of six (6) months of related work experience.
This is a Civil Service position.

Responsibilities

Plans, develops, implements and evaluates camps, clinics, leagues and recreation programs for participants of all ages.
Recruits, trains and supervises seasonal and intermittent program staff; coordinates instructors, contractors and community partners.
Monitors program budgets, supplies and registration trends; and serves as a primary point of contact for participants and families.
Provides on-site program leadership, responds to customer and participant concerns, and makes independent operational decisions as needed.
