Job summary

Peninsula Metropolitan Park District is seeking a Recreation Specialist to support camps, classes, and programs in Gig Harbor. You will help deliver a wide range of youth, teen, adult, and senior activities and assist with special events under the Recreation Services team.

The role emphasizes inclusion, safety, and community engagement, with on-site leadership and collaboration with staff and volunteers. A Bachelor’s in recreation or related field is required, with CPR/First Aid/AED

Qualifications

• One year working with youth in a recreation setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in recreation, early childhood education, psychology, or related field.
• Certification in CPR, First Aid, blood borne pathogens, and AED (or obtained within 90 days of hire).

Responsibilities

• Assists with planning, implementation, and coordination of recreational activities and events.
• Develops inclusive programs that promote safety for all participants.
• Communicates with participants and families to determine needs and abilities.
• Selects, purchases, and maintains equipment within budget.
• Provides instruction and leadership to program participants on-site.
• Supervises volunteers, staff, and participants to meet activity needs.
