Job summary

City of Keller is seeking a Recreation Coordinator to support the Recreation Division by coordinating events, programs, and marketing efforts. You will oversee staff, volunteers, vendors, and sponsorships, while maintaining partnerships with the public and various groups.

The role involves planning and executing events like Fishing for Fun, Night Hike, and Keep Keller Beautiful, and requires strong communication, organizational, and design skills. Flexibility for nights and weekends is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Leisure Studies or related field preferred.
• Two years of progressively responsible experience in providing recreation programs preferred.
• First Aid and CPR certifications required or ability to obtain within five months of hire.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and write letters, memos, contracts, spreadsheets, and other job-related analysis.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
• Knowledge of graphic design software (InDesign, Photoshop, Canva) preferred.
• Ability to research, compile and analyze data and present findings to management.
• Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with City staff, public officials, contractors, vendors, and the public.
• Ability to create, implement, and oversee events.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; may require nights and weekends.
• Valid Texas Class C driver license.
• Pass drug screen, physical, and background checks as required.

Responsibilities

• Create, plan, and execute special events and programs; manage resources and logistics.
• Prepare materials and marketing materials; solicit and maintain sponsorships.
• Coordinate staffing including City staff, vendors, contractors, and volunteers.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with public, groups, and vendors; oversee events.
• Administer and coordinate public art programs and related events when applicable.
• Provide administrative and customer support, including registration, cash handling, and recordkeeping.
• Assist with reporting and communications for internal and external use.
