Job summary

The GEO Group is seeking a Recreation Specialist to implement and operate a viable recreation program for detainees, overseeing facilities and equipment to ensure safe, engaging activities.

Responsibilities include planning activities, coaching teams, organizing competitions, and maintaining equipment, as well as keeping records. A high school diploma or GED is required; prior experience with detainees or in a PE setting is desirable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Additional education in Physical Education or related field desirable.
• Prior experience with detainees or in a physical education program desirable.
• Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Plans and organizes recreation activities for detainees.
• Coaches athletic teams and conducts competitions and tournaments.
• Explains proper technique and safe use of recreational equipment.
• Inspects recreation area for cleanliness and safety; conducts safety training.
• Checks detainees in and out of the gym; maintains records.
• Orders and schedules repair of recreation department equipment.
